The horde and alliance are the two sides competing against each other for gaining control of the world. In the past years,
they fought fiercely with each other, but today, they are in a stalemate. However, the horde and alliance are still hostile to each other;
players in one faction will never be welcomed in the cities of the other. Ten races you are able to play are split equally between these two sides.Draenei,Humans,
Dwarves, Night Elves, Gnomes belong to alliance, and Blood Elves, Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, Undead belong to horde.
You can switch your character's faction from horde to alliance and vice versa if you paid. Also you can have both a horde and alliance character on the same
realm on a single account. However, players in one faction are not allowed to trade with players of the opposite faction.
You can place items up for auction and players from either faction can bid on these items, and you can buy and sell at this neutral auction house with
players in the opposite faction.
Still, you can not form groups with players from the opposite faction, nor can you understand their language.
Only default emotes are means of direct communication such as /laugh, /nod, /salute, and /taunt.
What you can do is to fight the opposite faction. Faction vs. faction combat is encouraged especially on PvP servers.
You are able to fight the other faction in battlegrounds, world PvP, arenas, and even duels.
